hey there,

so i recently came upon one of these myself. okay, fine, my father did, and he gave it to me. It's made for some lovely decor all these years, but I'm thinking of actually putting it to use now. It seems to be in pretty good condition but two main problems, the keys get stuck a good deal and the ink ribbon is gone. Any tips or resources for how to go about fixing (or, perhaps, just cleaning) the keys? (There were no brushes or anything included, just a dust cover) Also, what kind of ink ribbon should I look for?

Thanks so much!

howdy. i have this same typewriter, which i salvaged from a dumpster eight years ago. yes, i was tossing something in and it caught my eye. it was grimy as you described yours, only without the carrying case, and it's fully functioning. what a find! but, now, i'm curious about the lack of a #1 key. do you know the story or explanation to that?

by the way, nice clean up job and great photos to showcase it.

I was really hoping this would be a puppy. This is nice. But it's not puppies. Also, you're apartment gets great light. I wish I had something other than a north facing elevation.

I work in the back office of a bank. We have a couple of electric typewriters for filling out customer documents that are not online. One of the co-op student employees was dumbfounded at the sight of a typewriter when instructed to use it... saying he had never seen one before and had no clue how it worked. When I told him how in college those in my generation had to retype entire pages or even papers when we inadvertently left something out - rather than merely correct a Word doc before printing - he looked horrified and said he'd never be able to pass a course with writing that way!
